A Prayer For Our Novembers

Lord we come to you here, at the beginning of our month.

October is behind us, and with it all of the moments in it that we wish we could do over, and all the memories that we will take with us into November. We look forward now, eager for what these next thirty days will hold.IMG_5931IMG_5930IMG_1822IMG_5928IMG_5735

The leaves are mostly fallen, the once vibrant colors from the world outside us now fading. As gray landscapes, darkening days, and fierce winds set in may we find the light, life, and warmth that only you offer. As we light fires in our homes, may you now light fires within our hearts. As the dark comes so quickly and we turn indoors, may we also turn inward to our souls. Will you please join us there, exposing what needs to be tended to, and healing what has been hurt?

The thirty days of this month ahead of us are open and untouched. The freshness of a new beginning and the wonder of what may come renews our energy and our hope. Fill these days with yourself – your presence, your grace, your glory. When we arrive at the end of them, let us have thirty days behind us in which we walked closely with you.

Join us in our work, our play, our eating, our sleeping, our travels, our chores, our laughter, our sorrow. Join us in our relationships, conversations, and fellowship. Join us in our every day.

May this be a month of thanksgiving and of gratitude, may our days be marked by joy.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
